It is time to impeach President Bush and Vice President Cheney. Recent developments demonstrate the many ways in which this administration has failed America, and impeachment is the only way for “we, the people” to take back our government.

The many reasons to impeach these men cannot all be listed here. Chief among them are the lies they told or perpetrated to support the war in Iraq, lies that led to the unnecessary deaths of more than 2,000 Americans and untold thousands of Iraqis. They have engaged in concerted and vicious efforts to besmirch their critics, which have led to the indictment of one high White House official, with possibly more to come. They have supported torture abroad and suppression of our civil rights at home. Their administration’s response to one of our greatest natural disasters was utterly ineffective and, in fact, proved deadly to many. Their administration has frittered away one of the largest surpluses in the country’s history and run up huge deficits, all the while reducing taxes on the richest Americans and cutting programs for the poorest. They have stolen two presidential elections and clearly have nothing but contempt for our Constitution. The list could go on and on.

How much more damage has been done to the Constitution, our democracy and our very way of life by the shameful and immoral actions of those two than was done by the personal improprieties of Bill Clinton?

Impeach Bush and Cheney before it’s too late.
