LEWISTON – Raymond L. Vallerand, 76, of Cram Avenue, Lewiston, died early Wednesday morning, Nov. 16, at his home with his family at his side.

He was born in Lewiston on Feb. 10, 1929, a son of Louis and Blanche (Ouellette) Vallerand. He was educated in local schools, and remained a lifelong resident of this community.

He worked for 23 years at the Lewiston Sun & Journal, working in marketing and advertising, and later spent 22 years at Rowe Ford in Auburn, until his retirement.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, and also served in the Maine Army National Guard. In addition, he was a member of Prospect Hill Golf Course, where he also worked part-time for several years after retirement. Among his favorite interests were golf and sharing his wonderful sense of humor.

He married Cecile St. Hilaire on Oct. 28, 1950. She passed away Nov. 3, 1996. He married Joyce Tikkanen Bibeau on May 19, 2000.

He leaves his wife, Joyce Vallerand of Lewiston; a son, Raymond Vallerand II and wife, Valerie, of Barre, Vt.; two daughters, Louise LaRoche and husband, Steven, of Auburn, and Theresa Vallerand and husband, Bruce Hodgkin, of Torrington, Conn.; a stepdaughter, Joanne Blouin of Lewiston; a stepson, Ronald Bibeau and wife, Julie, of Old Orchard; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Cecile St. Hilaire Vallerand.
