Bianca Lebel Cloutier of Monmouth has enrolled as a member of the class of 2009 at Dartmouth College. Cloutier is the daughter of Linda Cloutier.

Midshipman Curt Berube of Litchfield was recently sworn in as a member of the Maine Maritime Academy Regiment of Midshipman at a ceremony held earlier this fall during the college’s annual Family Weekend. The midshipman oath was administered tot he 140 candidates by Capt. Jeff Loustaunau, commandant of midshipmen and port captain, marking the successful conclusion of Regimental Preparatory Training (RPT) for the Class of 2009.

Berube, a graduate of Saint Dominic Regional High School is a member of the MMA Class of 2009. He is majoring in Marine Engineering Technology.



Jamie Rae Moreau, daughter of Roland and Anne Moreau of New Gloucester, a 1998 graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School, recently completed her work at New England Children’s Center (NECC) in Southborough, Mass. During her three-year employment at NECC, she worked with children who are emotionally disturbed, mentally retarded, and had other disabilities while studying to earn her master’s degree in special education at Simmons College where she graduated with a 3.99 grade point average.

Jamie’s undergraduate education at Endicott College in Beverly, Mass, included an associate degree in physical therapy and a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She developed proficiency in American Sign Language and Signing Exact English with an internship at Beverly School for the Deaf.

She currently works at JR Briggs Elementary School in Ashberham, Mass., as a Special Education teacher and resides in Ashby, Mass.

Deirdre Kreckel, daughter of Dieter and Jennifer Kreckel of Hancock Street in Rumford is a member of the MOVE (Mobilization of Volunteer Efforts) leadership core team at Saint Michael’s College, a residential liberal arts Catholic college located in the Burlington area of Vermont. Kreckel, a sophomore, graduated from Rumford’s Mountain Valley High School in 2003.

Kreckel is a coordinator of S.O.F.A., Saving for Others Furniture Association. S.O.F.A. is a student run organization founded in the hope of creating an atmosphere of recycling at Saint Michael’s College. At the end of each year, Saint Michael’s volunteers, as well as others who wish to be involved, collect furniture that would otherwise be thrown away by students leaving their residence halls, or by the college.

Robert Laurent Guerette of Auburn, Class of 2007, was among the undergraduates at Bowdoin College who distinguish themselves by excellence in scholarship during the previous academic year. Bowdoin held its annual Sarah and James Bowdoin Day ceremony Friday, Oct. 28, to honor those undergraduates.

Those students who are designated Sarah and James Bowdoin Scholars are in the top (highest GPA) 20 percent of each class.

The designation of Sarah and James Bowdoin Scholars honors James Bowdoin III and his wife, Sarah. James Bowdoin III was the earliest patron of the College and was instrumental in its founding in 1794. Sarah Bowdoin also gave many gifts to the College, including most of the Bowdoin family portraits.
