AUBURN – Antoinette A. Matthews, 95, of Auburn, passed away Friday, Nov. 18, at Odd Fellows Home.

Born in Auburn on Feb. 2, 1910, she was the daughter of Adelard and Annie Desjardins Letourneau. She was educated at St. Louis Parochial School, Auburn, and then attended junior and senior high school at St. Hyacinth Convent School in Quebec.

She married Owen J. Matthews on Jan. 31, 1944; he passed away on May 24, 1994, after 50 years of marriage.

She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church.

During World War II, she lived in Portsmouth, N.H., while her husband was stationed at the shipyard. She worked for the government center in Boston for 41 years.

She is survived by five nieces, Arvilla Kay of Lewiston, Janice Marcotte and husband, Lionel, of Leesburg, Fla., Cynthia Provost of Lewiston, Stephanie Gustufson of Florida, and Karen Bartels of Pennsylvania; one nephew, R. Peter Whitmore of Naples, Fla., grandnephew, Michael and wife, Gail Kay, and Brian and wife, Pamela Kay; and grandniece Brenda and husband, Richard Nichtila.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Owen; a sister, Rolande Taranto; and one niece, Jacqueline Gramling.
