SOUTH PARIS – Reginald A. Morey, 57, of South Paris, died unexpectedly Saturday at his home.

He was born in Norway, Aug. 18, 1948, the son of Donald and Pauline Crooker Morey. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1966.

From 1968 to 1971, he faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army.

From 1971 to 1975, he attended the University of Maryland, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in management science with honors.

From 1979 to 1997, he worked for G.H. Bass Shoe Company. He “escaped corporate-America” as vice president of operations.

He then built his 20-acre gentlemans farm in South Paris. For the past five years, he was an education assistant in the Alternative Program at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, retiring in June 2005.

He was a member of the Norway-Paris Regional Waste Committee and recently a member of the Board of Directors of the Oxford Hills Technical School.

He was a naturalist and enjoyed hiking, traveling, and farming with his children and grandchildren and believed in giving back to his community. His family meant the world to him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bernadette Baumbach Morey, whom he married Aug. 30, 1985; a daughter, Sharon Morey and her husband, John Corr, of Maryland; two sons, Shane and Joseph both of Norway; seven grandchildren, Grady Corr, Amber, Dimitria, Alexis, Kathleen, Michelle and Zoe Morey; his mother, Polly Baird and her husband, James, of South Paris; two sisters, Janet and Virginia Smith, both of Oxford; three brothers, Arthur and his wife, Evelyn Morey, Bruce Morey and Richard Smith; two nephews, Kyle Morey and Joel Smith; a niece, Michelle Cole and a close friend, Kathy Bevans.

He was predeceased by a son, Jesse; his stepfather, Richard Smith; and his father, Donald Morey.
