LEWISTON – Following a 16-year battle with heart disease, Doris L. Robbins, 67, loving wife of Howell “Robbie” Robbins died peacefully at home with her family by her side.

Born on July 23, 1938 in Lewiston, she was the daughter of Adrien and Lucienne Morin Blanchette.

She married Robbie Robbins on March 26, 1960. They were soul mates as they embarked on a journey together, raising three daughters and 10 grandchildren.

She enjoyed traveling, reading, and boating with her husband. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. She often said, “My legacy is teaching my grandchildren to shop!”

Extremely intelligent, she was a great teacher to her children and grandchildren, loving unconditionally. To her daughters, she was a pillar of strength. She will be remembered for her wisdom, generous nature, her contagious laugh, and the love she gave to all around her. We are all better people for having known her. She will be greatly and very sadly missed.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Karen Robbins Hood and husband, Thomas, of Lewiston, Cheryl Robbins Gates, and Whitney of Bloomington, Ind.; son-in-law, Mark Henneberger and wife, Karen, of Burke, Va.; grandchildren, Lauren and Jaclyn Traynor, Jillian, Gretchen and Matthew Hood, Danielle and Alec Henneberger, Jonathan, Jacob and Molly Gates; a special friend, Katie Owens; brother, David and wife, Kathy Blanchette, of Yulee, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, and her daughter, Donna J. Robbins Henneberger in 1999.
