PERU – A Mexico man suffered a minor head injury when his car and a truck driven by a man from Somerset County collided at Green Woods Road and Route 108 Tuesday morning.

Maine State Police Trooper Daniel Hanson said Jarrod Chessie, 21, of Mexico was driving east on Green Woods Road when he apparently turned left onto Route 108 north and into the path of Howard Sevey’s southbound 2005 Chevrolet pickup. Sevey, 73, of Ripley was checked at the scene, he said.

Chessie was taken by Med-Care ambulance to Rumford Community Hospital and treated for a head injury, the trooper said.

Chessie’s 1990 Oldsmobile was totaled, and Sevey’s truck had significant damage, the investigator said.

Dixfield police officer Rusty Daley assisted Hanson, along with Peru Fire Department.
