WILTON – Funeral services for John “Johnny” Adamo were held Monday, Nov. 21, at 1 p.m. from the Wilton First Congregational Church, Main Street, Wilton, with the Rev. Douglas Dunlap officiating.

Congregational hymns included “O God, Our Help in Ages Past” and “I Would Be True.” Mary Ryan was the organist. A special poem, titled “Do Not Stand and Weep,” requested by his wife, Ruth, was recited by the Rev. Dunlap.

Members of Wilton Masonic Lodge 156 provided the Masonic ritual, following the benediction.

Services concluded with full military honors provided by the members of the Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post 3335 of Jay, the Lane Dube AMVETS Post 33 of Jay and the George Bunten American Legion Post of Livermore Falls, all under the command of Richard Therrien.

Pallbearers were Dick Therrien, Mike Wadsworth, Raoul Laplante, Greg MacDonald, Roland Therrien and Don LeSuer.

Firing squad members were Richard Dupont, Dick Moreau, David O. Smith, Mike Wadsworth, Roland Giguiere and Raoul LaPlante. Honor guard members were Harvey Sabin, Wally Tripp, Gerard Richard, Greg MacDonald and Roland Therrien.

Following taps, the flag was presented by Dick Therrien and Donald LeSuer. Private burial was at Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton.

Following services, a reception was held in the vestry, hosted by the church hospitality committee.
