AUBURN – Vesta L. Orr, 83, of Auburn, died Friday evening, Nov. 25, at Clover Manor following a long illness.

She was born in Panhandle, Texas, June 27, 1922, the daughter of M.S. and Myrl O’Dell. She was raised in Texas and was a graduate of West Texas University. She continued her studies at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City.

Vesta had lived in Auburn most of her life, and was a noted professional musician who taught piano for many years to local children of all ages. She was also well known and active in local musical theater, such as the Red Stocking Reviews of Central Maine Medical Center’s Women’s Hospital Association. Prior to her illness, she was also active as a member of High Street Congregational Church.

Survivors include three sons, John Orr of Bangor, Timothy Orr of North Conway, N.H., and Patrick Orr of Evergreen, Colo.; three grandchildren, Tristen Orr of Bangor and Jamison and Hannah Orr of Evergreen, Colo.; and three brothers and two sisters in Texas.
