LISBON FALLS – William E. Splude Sr., 74, of Lisbon Falls, passed away Thursday afternoon, Nov. 24, at Montello Manor, following a long illness.

William was born in Portland, the son of Joseph W. and Viney Lashus Splude. He grew up in the Portland area and attended Portland schools.

After school, William went to work to help support his family at home. He later joined the U.S. Air Force and served his country.

On Dec. 24, 1954, he married Betty M. Greenlaw and started a family.

William worked as a painter for more than 30 years for Theodore Logan & Son. He also worked as a meat cutter. William was a member of the Portland AMVETS as well.

Some of his enjoyments included hunting, deep sea fishing, being outdoors in nature, cookouts, spending time with family and friends and especially Sunday dinners with family.

He is survived by 10 children, William E. Splude Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, of Lewiston, Bonnie L. Field and her significant other, Jay, of Auburn, Paula A. Duquette and her husband, Robert, of Lisbon Falls, Daniel R. Splude and his significant other, Jane, of Lisbon, Susan M. Snellen and her husband, Joe, of Kentucky, Lori J. McDougal and her husband, John, of Lisbon Falls, David B. Splude of Lewiston, Randy M. Splude and his wife, Angela, of Lewiston, Rusty A. Splude of Lisbon, and Timothy J. Splude and his wife, Jennifer, of Lisbon; three sisters, Mary Rose and Mary Ann of Portland and Katherine of Lewiston; one brother, Edward of Portland; 22 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife of 21 years, Betty Splude; a brother, Jim; and a sister, Madeline.
