ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) – The Los Angeles Angels extended the contracts of first base coach Alfredo Griffin, hitting coach Mickey Hatcher, bullpen coach Orlando Mercado and Ron Roenicke, who will start next season as bench coach.

All four coaches joined the Angels before the 2000 season and were under contract through the 2006 season. The extensions will take them through 2007, the team said Monday.

Roenicke was third base coach through last season. His move to bench follows Joe Maddon’s departure to become manager of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Pitching coach Bud Black previously agreed to a contract through 2007, and Dino Ebel was signed as third base coach for the 2006 season.
