Medicare program

ORONO – The Maine Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, in partnership with the Eastern Area Agency on Aging, will hold an interactive television program, “Understanding Medicare Part D,” from 1 to 3:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at 17 locations throughout Maine.

The program is designed to help Maine residents make informed decisions about Medicare Part D and the 41 plans from which to choose.

Because of maximum occupancy restrictions in the classrooms, the chapter is asking participants to register through it. The following locations are available: Augusta, Bangor, Bath/Brunswick, Calais, Dover, East Millinocket, Ellsworth, Fort Kent, Houlton, Lewiston/Auburn, Mt. Desert Island, Newport, Portland, Rumford/Mexico, Sanford, South Paris, Thomaston.

Coats for kids

PORTLAND – WCSH 6 and WLBZ 2 will celebrate the annual Coats and Toys for Kids Day on Saturday, Dec. 3. Hosted by Hannaford and Shaw’s Supermarkets, the television stations will broadcast live from seven locations statewide, starting at 6:45 a.m. and wrapping up after 1 p.m. Coats and Toys for Kids Day will be sponsored by the Maine Oil Dealers Association.

Coats and Toys for Kids Day sites will be Hannaford stores in Biddeford, Westbrook, Skowhegan and Ellsworth; and Shaw’s stores in Freeport, Auburn, and North Windham.

eGift Shop

TOPSHAM – The American Cancer Society has created a nationwide, web-based eGift Shop. The eGift Shop sells officially and legally approved merchandise with the American Cancer Society Inc., Relay For Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer brands.

Merchandise includes clothing, business accessories, writing instruments and sports and outdoor gift accessories. The e-Gift Shop can be accessed through www.cancer.org by clicking on the ACS Gift Shop link.

Time and Tide

AUGUSTA – The Time and Tide Resource Conservation and Development Area Council will convene at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, in the third-floor conference room, 9 Green St.

Time and Tide is a nonprofit organization that provides guidance and leadership for projects that foster the improvement, development and conservation of natural resources while promoting economic growth opportunities in local communities.
