JAY – St. Rose Circle 677, Daughters of Isabella, held a Mass on Nov. 16 at St. Rose Church to honor deceased members.

The Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Roger Chabot, circle chaplain. Members who took part in the Mass were: elector, Jeannine Wilkins, altar servers, Rita Crowley and Jackie Castonguay; Eucharistic ministers, Louise Buzzell, Laurie Gagnepain and Diane Mauris. The offertory was presented by Anita Marchetti and Pauline Marceau.

Music was provided by St. Rose organist, Therese Therrien, and cantor was Irene Heber. The choir was made up of the Daughters of Isabella. Past Regent Rosemary Poulson and Laurianne Castonguay read the names of all deceased members.

Following Mass, the social supper, consisting of hot casseroles, tossed salad, molded salads, pastries, coffee and cold drinks, was held in the parish hall. Pauline Marceau and Sandra Gould chaired the meal and the November Social Committee served.

Raffle tickets were sold by Ann Nemi for a door prize, which was won by Maryette Castonguay.

After the supper, a Chinese auction was held. Proceeds from the auction, headed by Shirley Couture, will benefit the Maine Right of Life Group.

Regent Jackie Castonguay announced that on Tuesday, Dec. 6, the Daughters will have a Christmas party at LaFleur’s Restaurant. A social hour will be held at 5:30 p.m. and the meal will be served at 6:30.

Shirley Couture is collecting new toys, books, games and suitable gifts for children at the Barbara Bush Children’s wing of Maine Medical Center.Gifts must be unwrapped and new. They may be taken to the St. Rose Rectory. The toys will be delivered to the hospital the first week of December.

An informational workshop was held on Nov. 12 at St. Augustine Church in Augusta. There will be some changes made in the ceremonial book. The off-year convention will be held in Lincoln on May 6.
