FARMINGTON – A festive Winter Carnival will be sponsored by the Franklin County Animal Shelter at their facility from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. Parents and pet owners are invited to bring their children and animals to have a photo taken with Santa Claus.

Color photographs, 5-inches by 7-inches, of a child or pet with Santa will be provided for a nominal fee. Other activities will include a snow sculpture competition, door prizes, a craft and bake sale, complete with hot cocoa, other winter goodies, T-shirts and holiday gifts, and a giving tree, with all proceeds to benefit the shelter.

Additionally, raffle tickets can be purchased at the shelter from now through the day of the carnival to win lift tickets to Sugarloaf USA.

The carnival will also act as an open house for the shelter, and the public is invited to see the animals available for adoption, as well as find out about programs and policies.

The shelter, Route 43, is normally open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and closed Sundays and major holidays. For more information, call the shelter at 778-2638.
