BRUNSWICK – Charles L. “Bud” Roehrig, 80, passed away on Dec. 8, after a long illness.

He was born in Topsham, on Dec. 10, 1924, a son of the late Walter and Francis Roehrig and brother to Doris (Lidback), Verna (Harman), and Albert and Leon Roehrig.

He attended schools in Topsham and Lisbon. In 1939, he started working for Pejepscot Paper Co. as summer help. He ended up working there until his retirement in 1986.

On Dec. 8, 1941, he joined the U.S. Navy and served on a mine sweeper in the Caribbean and also served in New York as a teletypist.

In 1946, he married Eveline Gayton, and returned back to work for Pejepscot Paper Co. They had five children, Cheryl, Karen, Walter, Paul and Glen. He had a great love for his family and was an avid outdoorsman. He raised beagles for rabbit hunting, and loved to go riding on his ATV. He also enjoyed gardening and was very proud of his tomato plants.

Bud was a former member of the Topsham American Legion Post 202, and was president of the Papermakers Union and of the I.A.M Machinist Union at the Pejepscot Paper Mill Co.

He is survived by his sister, Doris Lidback, of Mesa, Ariz.; his daughter, Cheryl and her husband, Robert Sweeney; sons, Walter, Paul and his wife, Annette, and Glen and his wife, Sherry; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Eveline; his sister, Verna Harman; brothers, Albert and Leon Roehrig; his daughter, Karen Goodwin; and a grandson, Kirk Goodwin.
