AUGUSTA – Rachel Mack had a dominant night in the inside post, dropping in a game-high 22 points as Cony spoiled Edward Little’s season opener with a 77-40 decision.

Maggie Rende added 10 points, and Shelby Pelkey also contributed 10 points, including a pair of three-pointers. The Mustangs (2-0) opened a big lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Eddies 26-9 before the half.

Brittany French had 15 points for EL (0-1).

Buckfield 67, Pine Tree Academy 13

FREEPORT – Abby Jones poured in a game-high 14 points to help Buckfield in a 67-13 victory over Pine Tree Academy in a varsity girls’ basketball matchup on Monday.

Lindsay Henderson chipped in with 13, while Alyssa Henderson added 12 for the Bucks.

Shanna Holiman was the leading scorer for Pine Tree Academy with five.

Jay 65, Carrabec 39

JAY – Kaylie DeMillo scored 23 points to power Jay past Carrabec, 65-39 in MVC play.

DeMillo drained three 3-pointers in leading all scorers as the Tigers jumped out to a 20-9 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

Kristen Adams chipped in with 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds for the Tigers (1-1), and Liz LeBlanc added 11 points.

Amy Campbell and Erica French led the Cobras with seven points apiece, and Christine Earl added six points.

Madison 59, Mt. Abram 49

SALEM – Margo Russell scored a game-high 16 points to lead Madison to a 59-49 victory over Mt. Abram in an MVC girls’ basketball contest.

Jessica Haydon was the next highest scorer for Madison with eight. Heather Hayes tallied a team-high 14, while Brittany York dropped 13 in the loss for Mt. Abram (1-1). Madison (2-0) played great defense with 22 forced turnovers in the game.

Monmouth 63, Wiscassett 47

WISCASSETT – Cortney Barrett knocked down 15 points as Monmouth cruised past Wiscassett 63-47 to improve to 1-1 on the season.

Brittany Scirica added 13 points for the Mustangs, and Jenn Lola came through with 12 points. Monmouth took advantage of lots of oppurtunities from the foul line, getting 25 points in the game from there. Briana Shorey had 14 points to lead Wiscassett (0-2).

, and Sarah Pierce chipped in with eight points.
