LISBON, N.H. (AP) – A man charged with drunken driving after he broke into the house of two retired corrections officers is free on bail but has been told to stay away from the house where he made himself at home.
Police said Wayne Eathorne’s truck skidded off the road, but instead of calling 911, he broke into a nearby house.
Mike Tobin said he came home from a hunting trip with friend Paul Aldrich, heard unfamiliar voices upstairs, went to investigate and found Eathorne on the floor.
“He had his socks, long johns and a sweater on … lying on his back, bellowing.”
Tobin said Eathorne threatened him and after several struggles, he and Aldrich subdued the intruder and called police.
Eathorne was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, attempted burglary and criminal threatening. He was released on bail and ordered to stay away from Tobin’s home.
