DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – A Des Moines man has come forward with the winning Powerball ticket from Wednesday’s drawing.
The man won $113.2 million when his ticket matched all six numbers drawn to win the Powerball jackpot. Although the man stepped forward, his name has not been released.
Mary Neubauer, an Iowa lottery spokeswoman, confirmed the ticket had been turned in Saturday, but said the man’s name won’t be released until he goes to the lottery headquarters to claim his prize.
Kurt Harris, manager of the Dahl’s Food Mart where the winning ticket was sold, said the man is “one of our good customers,” and came in just before noon on Saturday.
Elvedina Suvic, who works at the store’s courtesy counter, said she verified the winning ticket.
The man, who asked store employees not to disclose his name, “was shocked; he didn’t say a word” when the machine confirmed the winner, she said. “I thought, Oh my God, I have the winning ticket in my hand,”‘ Suvic said. “He said he didn’t know until today” that he held the lucky ticket.
