Celebration

HEBRON – Hebron Community Baptist Church will host a Christmas Eve celebration at 5 p.m. Saturday, with lessons and carols led by Pastor Meredith Dalessandro and music by the Chancel Choir and soloists Nancy Valliere, soprano, and Edward Gabrielsen, tenor.

To begin the service, student pianists will play carols. At the end, while the congregation sings, Darlene Morrill will accompany on the guitar.

Refreshments will follow in the dining room. The church is located on the northeast corner of the Hebron Academy campus.

Kids’ read-in

AUBURN – The Auburn Public Library will host a “Vacation Sleep-Over (Nap-Over) Read-In” on Thursday, Dec. 29, in the library’s kid’s space. Kids in first through third grades are invited from 9 to 10:30 a.m., and those in fourth through sixth grade from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Children can be in jammies (or at least slippers) and have cocoa and animal crackers, make “gorp” and read to each other or alone for a coupon for a free kid’s meal.

Bridge winners

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners of the quarterly club championship at the Multi-Purpose Center on Dec. 19 were: first, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings, first overall in A; second, Marlene and Conrad Violette, second overall in A, first overall in B and C; third, Helen Little and Alberta Turner, third overall in A, second overall in B; fourth, Nancy Farmer and Les Buzzell, fourth overall; fifth, Lucille Bilodeau and Luke Merry, fifth overall; Joan Bergeron and Jeanne Plourde, third overall in B, second overall in C; Betty and Doug Sise, fourth overall in B.

No game will be played on Monday, Dec. 26. The Monday, Jan. 2, game will be played at 9 a.m. at Schooner Estates, Auburn.
