Specific attention will be paid to baseball’s effect on race relations and labor relations and how baseball has handled some of the controversies that have surrounded the game.
Students will read a variety of authors who have explored the sport, view films and conduct research on a baseball topic of their choice. A trip to Hadlock field, home of the Portland Sea Dogs, is scheduled, where participants will meet with management and see the team play.
American State and Local Government (POS151-21W) will be offered for the first time in a partly Web-based format.
