AUBURN – Hazel B. Newton, 85, of South Paris, died Friday, Dec. 23, at Androscoggin Home Hospice House.
She was born in Oxford on March 8, 1920, the daughter of Ernest and Lois Self Talbot. She was a graduate of Paris High School and attended Portland Cosmetology School.
She worked at Wilner Wood Products for many years. She married Clark Newton; he predeceased her.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church in South Paris as well as the Thalian Club and the Ladies Circle of the church. She was a board member of the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches, a former board director for No Par Federal Credit Union and member of many other organizations.
She is survived by her daughters, Jean Newton, Gail Craig and her husband, Butch, of Minot, Mary Rawlings and her husband, Chuck, of Martinez, Calif., and Beth Heino and her husband, Dennis, of Oxford; eight grandchildren, Nancy Craig, Brian and Kerri Craig, Shelah and Ryan Rawstron, Janet and Jason Fuller, Chad Rawlings, Angela and Dave Houser and Stasha and Samantha Heino; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter expected in January; a brother, Howard Talbot and his wife, Carol, of New Mexico; and a sister, Frances Coombs of Fryeburg.
She was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Brinkley; and a granddaughter, Sarah Raymond.
