Overdose blamed for woman’s death

AUGUSTA (AP) – The death last summer of a 26-year-old Augusta woman was the result of an accidental drug overdose, the state medical examiner’s office said.

A passer-by spotted the body of Christie Jacobson in a car in an Augusta parking lot near the Kennebec River on July 2, and police said at the time that the death may have been drug-related.

The medical examiner’s office said Friday that Jacobson died accidentally of acute methadone poisoning.

Family members said Jacobson had a history of problems with illegal drugs, but had managed to turn her life around and was working to complete a business degree at Thomas College in Waterville.
