AUBURN – Marjorie Perkins, a longtime Court Street Baptist Church member and Auburn resident, was welcomed to her newly appointed role as elementary youth director at the Sunday morning service on Dec. 18. Board of Christian Education member Rita Newell made the announcement.

Perkins, a graduate of Gordon College, earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and has an extensive background in elementary-level youth work. She has taught in public schools, served as a youth group leader and filled teaching roles in Sunday school and vacation Bible school. Administratively, Perkins has served as Sunday school superintendent and is associated with a local law firm in an administrative role.

Perkins brings an array of applicable talents to the position. She has demonstrated a wide range of musical training and expertise. She sings in the Court Street church choir, is an accomplished pianist and flautist and has directed numerous youth musical presentations and dramas.

Her most recent church musical undertaking was the formation and direction of a chime choir. At the Court Street Baptist Church, Perkins is recognized for pursuing any assumed responsibility with creativity, energy, dedication and enthusiasm.

The congregation is looking forward to seeing her pursue the goal of expanding and revitalizing the church youth program to better meet the spiritual needs of young people. Perkins’ program will be directed toward youths ages 6 through 12.
