Nutrition class
LEWISTON – “Eating Well for Optimal Health: Nutrition for People with Prostate Cancer” will be the topic of a Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center program set for Wednesday, Dec. 28. The presentation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Chairman’s Room A in the 12 High Street Medical Office Building adjacent to Central Maine Medical Center.
Registered dietitian Jill Young will discuss the nutritional needs of those living with prostate cancer. Her presentation will include practical approaches to selecting, preparing and serving food.

Eucharistic event
LEWISTON – The Eucharist will be exposed from 6:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve until 7:30 a.m. New Year’s Day at the altar of the Holy Cross Chapel, Baird Avenue entrance), 1280 Lisbon St. The Rev. Daniel Greenleaf will ring in the New Year with a benediction service, prayer and time for personal reflection. Light refreshments will be available throughout the night. Christmas play
LEWISTON – The Friends of the Light Apostolic Ministry parents will hold a Christmas play, “The God-Space Vacancy,” at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at 95 College St., For more information, call 782-6159. Refreshments will follow.
Dance classes
LEWISTON – Irish set dance classes will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, starting Jan. 2, at St. Patrick’s Church Hall. Cost is $3 a person. No partner or experience is needed. For more information, call Jeannette at 933-9761.
No meeting
AUBURN – There will be no meeting of Androscoggin Pomona Grange in January. The next scheduled meeting will be on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Excelsior Grange in Poland with an “Antique Roadshow” as the program. More information will be available at a later date.
Officers of Androscoggin Pomona Grange have been invited to fill the chairs at Cumberland Pomona Grange when it meets at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Granite Grange in Pownal.
College workshop
LEWISTON – The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will offer “The Essentials of College Planning” workshop from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at the Lewiston Career Center, 5 Mollison Drive. Adviser Christy Le will lead the free session. For registration, call 1-800-281-3703.
Adults considering college are invited to participate in the workshop. Services include assistance in choosing a college, tutoring, personal and financial counseling, career counseling, assistance in applying to college, workplace and college visits and assistance in applying for financial aid.
