RUMFORD – Clair M. Barstow, 81, of Duntile Street, Mexico, died Saturday, Dec. 24, at Rumford Hospital.

Born in Freedom on Feb. 27, 1924, he was a son of George and Cora Barstow. He was a graduate of Freedom High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class from 1943 to 1946. He worked as a millwright for Union 1996 of Augusta.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Local Union 1996 and Robert Shand Post 1641 VFW. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include two sons, Timothy Barstow and his wife, Gayle, of Dayton, and Brent Barstow of Albion; a daughter, Paula Hall and her husband, Bruce, of Newport; his companion, Dorothy Crosby of Mexico, and her children, Randy Crosby and his companion, Caroline, of Mexico, and Mark Crosby and his companion, Debbie, of Mexico; and many grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Paulette; and a son, Jeff.
