ESTERO, Fla. – Michael Leveille led a group of four players to register goals as Maine skated to a 4-2 victory Wednesday over Northeastern in the consolation game of the Florida College Hockey Classic.

The Black Bears dropped a 4-1 decision to Minnesota-Duluth late Tuesday night.

Derek Damon, Keith Johnson and Greg Moore also tallied for the Black Bears (11-6). Ben Bishop made 16 saves in net to notch the win.

Ray Ortiz and Ryan Ginand recorded goals for Northeastern (1-10-4), while Doug Jewer turned aside 47 shots between the pipes.

In the opening round Tuesday, Michael Gergen tallied a pair of goals to lead Minnesota-Duluth. Maine’s lone goal was tallied 13 seconds into the game by Mike Lundin with assists from Michel Leveille and Travis Wight.

Goaltender Matt Lundin made 38 saves .

Bowdoin 7, Salem State 5

SALEM, Mass. – The Bowdoin College men’s hockey team claimed their second straight Salem State Holiday Classic Crown, defeating the host 7-5 in the championship tilt Wednesday evening.

Bryan Ciborowski scored three times in the first two periods, while Pete Smith and Greg McConnell also found the back of the net as the Polar Bears led 5-2 after two frames. Tim McVaugh added two goals in the final period, one powerplay and one shorthanded.

All five of Salem State goals came from different players including Drew Madeiros, Charlie Levin, Pat Kasputis, Paul Snell, and Josh Cartier.

Mississippi 72, Maine 52

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Armintie Price poured in 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Mississippi to a 72-52 victory over the University of Maine in women’s basketball action Wednesday.

Ashley Johnson chipped in for Mississippi (10-2) with 10 points, while Lindsay Roy added nine.

Abby Schrader led the Black Bears (2-6) with 12 points, while Ashley Underwood added 11. Mississippi held a 42-20 advantage at the halftime break and was never seriously challenged.
