Museum closed

MEXICO – The Mexico Historical Museum, 3 Oxford St., will be closed during January, February and March, reopening in April.

The Mexico Historical Society will continue to meet on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Calvin Lyons meeting room, town hall.

The Christmas dinner was a success, with 40 present. The society is looking for new members. All ages are welcome.

The book, “Remembering Ridlonville,” will be on sale for $15 at the town hall. Anyone having artifacts for the society should call Bea Shaw Preblod at 364-2571 or Irene Hutchinson at 369-9923.

Clear sidewalks

OXFORD – The Postal Service is asking residents to help assure that rural carriers are able to deliver mail safely and efficiently.

Rural or curbside mailboxes should be kept clear of snow or other obstructions so a carrier can pull up adjacent to a mailbox and make a delivery without exiting his or her vehicle.

Snow and ice on sidewalks and steps need to be cleared where carriers walk. Postal Service officials said carriers are not required to risk personal injury from observable hazards to deliver the mail.
