MIDWAY, Utah – Justin Easter of Jay made his debut at the U.S. Olympic Cross Country Skiing Trials held Thursday at Soldier Hollow, finishing 34th in the sprint qualifier.
Easter, a Bates College graduate, covered the 1.3-kilometer course in 2 minutes, 34.86 seconds, nearly 12 seconds behind race winner Chris Cook.
Two Bates College freshmen also competed. Dylan Mogk placed 30th in 2:34.22, while Sylvan Ellefson was 47th in 2:36.07.
Caribou’s Colin Rodgers led all Maine competitors by placing 10th. There were 182 finishers.
