State Rep. Thomas Saviello has no plans of stepping down from his position on the Legislature’s Natural Resources Committee. Why would he? His job of managing environmentalists, I mean, environmental manager for the single largest point-source polluter in the state and his other responsibility as a committee member overseeing environmental laws presents the perfect opportunity to promote inaction, all in favor of big business.

Environmental laws are intended to protect the people from pollution, not to protect the polluter from the people.

Saviello listed three things that were important to him: the mills, the school system and the university. Shouldn’t the environment and people’s health have been included on that list, considering Saviello’s responsibilities include environmental lawmaking?

It doesn’t seem that there are any conflicts of interest here, because Saviello has made it clear that he is going to side with big business every time.
