LEWISTON – Robert R. DePalma, 74, of Carthage, died on Thursday, Jan. 6, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a long illness.

He was born on April 16, 1931, the son of Thomas and Josephine (St. Angelo) DePalma in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was educated in Rhode Island schools and after graduation enlisted in the Marines and proudly served his country in the Korean War.

He married Gaylene Kellerman on Aug. 17, 1954. He worked for the May Co. for the most of his working life and for Atlantic Tubing for 18 years. He loved baseball, arguing politics, working hard and especially being with his loving and loyal family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Gaylene DePalma, of Carthage; sons, Robert DePalma and his wife, Wanda, of Carthage and Andrew DePalma and his wife, Christine, of Warwick, R.I.; brother, Arthur DePalma, of North Providence, R.I.; grandchildren, Kenneth DePalma, Kerri Hulbert, Christopher DePalma, Abigayle DePalma, Francelia DePalma, Andrew, Andrea and Angela DePalma; and great-grandchildren, Jared Moody Jr. and Dillyn Hulbert.

He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Thomas; and sisters, Theresa Thacker and Ann Martin.
