PUTNAM, Conn. – William R. Currier, 67, of 384 Killingly Ave., died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, Jan. 3, at his home.

He was born on Aug. 27, 1938, in Clinton, the son of the late Russell and Enid Fletcher Currier of Norridgewock. He was educated in local school systems and graduated from the University of Maine at Orono, with a degree in agriculture.

He married Kathleen R. Pacheco on May 28, 1976, in Lewiston. They made their home in various parts of the state of Maine until they moved to Putnam, Conn., in 1990.

He worked for both the state of Maine in poultry and red meat inspection, and spent more than 20 years working for the USDA in food processing inspection in Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. For the last several years he has been employed by Daniele Inc. of Pascoag, R.I., as a packaging manager.

He spent many happy hours in the outdoors, fishing and spending time with family and dear friends at the family camp on Sebec Lake. He enjoyed working in his vegetable and flower gardens, a lifetime hobby he started at an early age, which he attributes to his mother, Enid Currier. He also spent many hours woodworking in his garage, “puttering” on his building items for the house and other outdoor projects. He also was a jack-of-all-trades, a talent that he used to work on the remodeling of his home.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years; his dear mother, Enid Fletcher Currier of Norridgewock; his brother, Blynn Currier and wife, Lucille, of Bingham; his sister, Irene M. Oldfield and husband, Jeffrey, and godchild, Cynthia, of Buxton; many wonderful nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Ms. Lillian Robbins of Fairfield. He will also be dearly missed by his mother-in-law, Jeanne Pacheco of Lewiston; brother-in-law, Joseph Pacheco III, and his wife, Margaret and niece, Kathryn, of Plano, Texas; sister-in-law, Karen Pacheco-Corwin, husband Donald, and nephews, Samuel and William Pacheco-Corwin of Auburn. He will be missed by all who knew him and his gentle, helpful nature. Also, not to be forgotten are his three loving dogs, Katie, Simone and Georgette.
