DURHAM – Nomination papers are now available for the annual municipal election on March 31.

For additional information, phone Plourde at the town office, 353-7012, ext. 2. The annual Town Meeting on business articles will take place on April 1 this year.
Lisbon: Values dropping
LISBON – Voters in Lisbon may be facing a property tax revaluation sometime down the road. Tax Assessor Gerry Samson reported to selectmen that the sales ratio is now down to 61 percent of actual value, a drop of 10 percent from last year.
He expects the ratio will continue declining which will necessitate a revaluation, but did not indicate how soon this would happen.
The State Department of Taxation requires a revaluation when the sales ratio falls below 70 percent.
Lisbon: Change meeting
LISBON – A draft review of the transition process from a town meeting to a town council form of government by Town Attorney Roger Therriault indicates there is a need for a special town meeting to clear up two issues.
As approved by voters earlier this year, the changeover failed to include the establishment of two districts.
Town officials are now checking the latest census report to determine if the current two voting wards are equal and if so, the same lines can be used, Town Manager Curtis Lunt said.
Clarification is also needed on the effect the transition will have on elected School Committee, Water Commission and Advisory Board members.
