AUBURN – Thelma Wallace Stanhope Jalbert, 84, of Lisbon and Virginia Beach, Va., passed away Jan. 4 at The Hospice House.

She was born in Lisbon, April 30, 1921, the daughter of Carrie and Chester Wallace. She graduated from Lisbon High School, Class of 1938, and attended Summer College in Boston, briefly before graduating from Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing in Lewiston.

In her 45-year nursing career she was employed both as a general duty and private duty nurse holding positions at Central Maine General Hospital; St. John, New Brunswick Hospital, Canada; Clover Manor Nursing Home; Marcotte Home and Fellowship House Detox Center in Lewiston.

Her interests included family genealogy, traveling, bowling, reading, bingo, and spending time with family and her many friends.

She was a member of the Princess Anne Plaza Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, Va., the Lisbon Historical Society, D.A.R., Civil War Round Table of Brunswick, Hall Reunion and Family Jordan Society.

She is survived by her husband, Llewellyn (Pete) Jalbert, of Virginia Beach, Va.; sons, William Stanhope and wife, Dana, of Kirkwood, Mo., and Edward Stanhope and wife, Janet, of Auburn; a daughter, Linda Jordan and husband, Forrest, of Lisbon; a brother, Dana Wallace and wife, Mary, of Brunswick; stepchildren, Larry Jalbert, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Constance Hall, of Milton, Fla., Linda Fellini, of Hartford, Conn., and Lew Jalbert, of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandchildren, Carrie Coselman, of Auburn, Sharrie Piotrowski, of Landstuhl, Germany, Tarrie Coselman-Rhoton, of Ypsilanti, Mich., William Stanhope, of La Jolla, Calif., John Stanhope, of Spring Valley, Calif., and Trey Jalbert, of Virginia Beach, Va.; nieces, Valerie Wallace, of Montross, Va., and Sue Walters, of Augusta; many wonderful great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous dear friends.

She was predeceased by a nephew, Kim Wallace.
