On the 9th of November a paper went up on the library window at Elm Street School. This paper was announcing the tryout date for the school cheerleading team! As soon as coach Mrs. Marstin put up the paper almost everyone grabbed their pencils and pens to sign up.
This team consists of grades six through eight. The school team cheers for home games for both junior and varsity teams. On game days they wear their uniforms throughout the whole school day.
During the games they stand on the sidelines and do all sorts of chants. Then at halftime they do a routine, usually as long as two and a half minutes. This routine consists of jumps, stunts, a dance, tumbling, and a cheer. When halftime is over they go back on the sidelines and do more chants. Everyone knows this will be another great season for the wildcats!
