AUBURN – Pottle Hill Inc., serving people with mental retardation and other selected developmental disabilities, has received a $5,000 grant from the Agnes M. Lindsay Trust.

The purpose of the grant is to purchase a larger truck for the organization’s Pottle Works firewood operation. A larger vehicle will enable the firewood business to deliver two cords of wood versus a half cord each with the trucks being used.

It will allow the Pottle Works crew to dump the wood rather than unload by hand. It will facilitate deliveries to a larger geographic area while reducing maintenance costs. The crew will also be able to ride together.

The firewood business provides an opportunity for the people served by the program to gain work and social skills, independence and to earn money in a geographic area where work opportunities are limited.

Pottle Hill will continue its search for additional funding sources to make the purchase. Businesses and individuals interested in helping can send a tax-deductible contribution to Pottle Hill Inc., P.O. Box 1537, Auburn, ME 04211.
