LEWISTON – Raymond D. Burgess, 71, a resident of Alden Road, Leeds, died Monday, Jan. 9, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 11, 1934, in Leeds, the son of Guy and Myrtle (Stevens) Burgess. He was one of 15 children. He attended school in Leeds.

On Aug. 18, 1956, he married Nancy Jipson in Lewiston. He worked as a trailer truck driver all his life, having worked for Bancroft & Martin for many years, retiring in 1991 due to illness.

He enjoyed playing bingo in Winthrop and he also liked to hunt and fish. He got his first moose last year during the moose hunt.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Leeds; one son, Robert Burgess and his wife, Cheryl, of Lisbon Falls; one daughter, Carol Ann Harrington and her husband, Dwayne, of Monmouth; a nephew, Wayne Jipson, of Leeds; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one special great-granddaughter, Moesha Harrington; one brother, Arland Burgess and his wife, Eva, of Mexico; and three sisters, Arlene Burgess, of Leeds, Christine LaPlante, of Livermore Falls and Theresa Brown and her husband, Peter, of Leeds.
