MADISON – Rita Lavallee-Croteau, 78, of 84 Abnaki Road, Madison, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 10, at her residence, following a long illness.

She was born in Lewiston on April 28, 1927, the daughter of Vital and Evangeline (Fournier) St. Clair and had been a resident of this community for most of her life.

She was employed as a nurses aide at St. Mary’s Hospital for many years, until her retirement. She was married to her first husband, George Lavallee who died on Nov. 6, 1990. She then married Francis Croteau.

She was a member of Holy Cross Church. She enjoyed reading, ceramics, watching movies and most of all spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Francis Croteau, of Madison; two daughters, Christine Magilen and her husband, Steven, of Miami Beach, Fla., and Lisa Tilley and her husband, Jay, of Saco; two sons, Bruce Lavallee and his wife, Lise, of Minot and Jim Lavallee and his wife, Nancy, of Lisbon; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
