LEWISTON – Marco’s restaurant has quietly reopened at its new location off Mollison Way.

The landmark restaurant opened around Christmas just for functions and then opened for lunch and dinner without any fanfare. Owners Steve Taylor and Duane Arnold want a chance to perfect the menu and staff before a formal grand reopening planned within a few weeks.

The restaurant operated for 26 years on Lisbon Street before a July 2004 fire destroyed it. Taylor and Arnold couldn’t find another suitable downtown location to rebuild, and instead, renovated an empty building in the Fairgrounds Business Park into the new Marco’s.

Chip Morrison, president of the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, said he’s glad to have an answer to the question he gets asked most often: When will Marco’s reopen?

“I couldn’t be happier for two guys who have worked so hard,” he said.
