FARMINGTON – Alvoid C. Barker, 65, of Strong, died early Wednesday morning, Jan. 11, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital.

He was born, March 21, 1940, in Jay, the son of Cyrus L. and Leona E. (Harris) Barker. He attended Phillips schools.

He worked at various jobs throughout his life, but worked primarily as a mechanic.

As a younger man he raced stock cars at various tracks and enjoyed many things, including gold panning, camping, fishing, four-wheeling, hunting, fishing, music and spending time with his good friend, Glenn Richard.

He will be remembered as a man who was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by three sons, Cecil Barker, of Avon, Alan Barker, of North Anson and Aaron Barker, of Phillips; four stepsons, Mark Pinkham, of Madison, Tony Pinkham, of Avon, Dan Pinkham, of Jay and Donald Pinkham, of Inglis, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Felicia Harris, of Farmington Falls and Peggy Harmon, of New Sharon; four sisters, Jolene White, of Inglis, Fla., Elaine Romanoski, of Avon and Sally White, of Presque Isle; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Shirley Wilcox; and an infant daughter.
