SOUTH PARIS – Victor Bell, 86, of Beechwood Road in Oxford, died late Thursday evening, Jan. 12, at the Veterans’ Home with family at his side.

He was born in Van Buren on Oct. 8, 1919, a son of Fred and Annie (Madore) Bell.

He was educated in Van Buren schools and graduated from Van Buren High School in 1937. Following high school he moved to Lewiston and had remained a lifelong resident of the greater Auburn -Lewiston community.

On June 12, 1948, he married the former Lena Bushey of Lewiston. Mr. Bell was a veteran of the military, having served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was a self-employed potato farmer his whole life as he and his wife owned and operated Bell farm in Auburn from 1948 until his retirement in 1980.

Among his favorite enjoyments were spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, and friends, golfing and in earlier years, bowling.

He leaves his wife, Lena, of Oxford; three daughters, Rachel Bradbury and husband, Robert, of Simsbury, Conn., Patricia Hunter and husband, Robert, of Lexington, Mass. and Arlene Hines and fianc, Gregory Harrison, of Albion; six sons, Fred Bell, of Topsham, John Bell and wife, Monita, of Woodstock, Ga., Michael Bell and wife, Sharon, of Hanover, Pa., Robert Bell and wife, Patricia, of Poland, Vincent Bell and wife, Nicole, of Easton, N.H. and Alan Bell and wife, Susan, of Gloucester, Mass.; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Aline Violette and husband, Benny, of Lewiston; and one brother, Emile Bell and wife, Terry, of Lewiston.
