WATERFORD – Selectmen on Monday gathered information for the finance committee as town officials begin the process of building a new budget for fiscal year 2006.

The committee needs clarification on numerous budget items in order to make its recommendations, officials said, including interest charges on late taxes, an increase in health insurance for town employees, debt reduction on a plow truck and sand lot, and solid waste disposal.

The finance committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the municipal building to discuss any changes, and then submit its recommendations to selectmen. The new budget will be on the warrant and ready for review at the town meeting on March 4.

The meeting is open to the public.
