AUBURN – The Androscoggin Special Olympic Nordic training day scheduled for Friday, Jan. 20, has been cancelled due to lack of snow.

Please call Jody Benson at 795-0556 with any questions. All area coaches are encouraged to train with their athletes despite the conditions if they are registered for the state Special Olympic competition at Sugarloaf/USA from Jan. 29-31.

Pepsi Pitch, Hit & Run seeks local leagues

NORCROSS, Ga. – The Pepsi Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run program is looking for youth baseball leagues throughout the country interested in promoting a local competition this year.

The skills competition gives youngsters ages 7 to 14 a chance to showcase three fundamental baseball skills.

Winners may move up through the local and sectional ranks to a national competition, where participants have a chance to compete on-field at a major league ballpark. The national finals take place at the 2006 Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Pittsburgh.

Pepsi Pitch, Hit & Run is an official program of Major League Baseball. The free, gassroots program is in its 10th year. Children compete in four age groups: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14.
