LEWISTON – Florette Chretien, 90, of 191 Scribner Blvd., Lewiston, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Canada on March 5, 1915, and moved to Lewiston at a young age with her parents, Omer and Marie Louise Poulin and her three brothers.

On Aug. 31, 1940, she married Gerard Chretien, the love of her life and they resided in Lewiston for 63 years. He passed away on Jan. 25, 2004.

Although they never had children of their own, Florette and Gerard loved and were loved by many nephews and nieces. She loved life and enjoyed her husband’s annual family reunions, where she participated in skits and especially enjoyed playing her kazoo. She also enjoyed the family’s annual Fourth of July fishing vacation at Beaver Cove at Moosehead Lake.

Things that she enjoyed were watching Bill O’Reilly, reading the Enquirer, talking on the telephone, playing cards and baking her traditional chocolate cream pie, which she would bring to every party or special event that she was invited to.

She is survived by a brother, Jean Paul Poulin; many nieces and nephews; and a good friend, Jeannette Bergeron.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gerard; and two brothers, George and Conrad.
