FALMOUTH – David Jones of Falmouth is the latest to announce a run for governor. A developer, Jones will run as an independent under the Maine Clean Election Act.

“The people of Maine are ready for an administration that will focus on fiscal responsibility and downsizing the size of government,” Jones said, in announcing his bid for the Blaine House. More details of his platform will be made with his formal announcement, according to his campaign staff.

Jones lives in Falmouth with his wife, Nancy, and their three children.

Jones joins a field of others who intend to challenge Gov. John Baldacci for his post, including Democrat Robert Bizier of Albion, Republicans David Emery of St. George and Sens. Chandler Woodcock of Farmington and Peter Mills of Cornville, independents Nancy Oden of Jonesboro and Rep. Barbara Merrill of Appleton, and Green Party candidate Pat LaMarche of Yarmouth.
