VERNON, N.J. (AP) – The final round in the U.S. Snowboarding Trials was postponed Saturday due to windy conditions and rescheduled for Sunday morning, organizers said.
The competition, which will decide the U.S. team for the Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, will resume at Mountain Creek Resort with the men’s events at 8:45 a.m., followed by the women’s competition. The announcement of the U.S. team members is expected to be made at 1:15 p.m.
Gretchen Bleiler was in first place in the women’s division after the first night of competition on Friday, while Shaun White led the men’s division.
Bleiler, the 2005 Winter X Games superpipe champion, finished with a score of 42.40. Elena Hight was second with a 42.00 and Hannah Teter, star of the new snowboarding movie “First Descent” was third at 38.50.
White, who has already made the U.S. squad based on his showings at the first two Grand Prix events, finished at 45.60. Danny Kass was second with a score of 41.40 and Kier Dillon was third at 41.10.
