DURHAM – Selectmen will ask voters at town meeting in April to approve spending $10,000 to upgrade the bandstand at Southwest Bend.

The plan is to temporarily move the bandstand and build a pad at the site, and to repair, paint and replace the refurbished structure on the new pad. The board may appoint a committee to oversee the project.

Selectmen have also agreed to recommend a 2006 Fire and Rescue Department budget of $202,665 (including $40,736 for the fire station payment; $25,750 for the Fire and Rescue Capital Improvement Account; and $42,711 for firetruck payment and repairs.)

They will also recommend $350 for the Lisbon Area Christian Outreach; $2,676 for Emergency Management; and $633,379 for General Government and miscellaneous town budgets.

The board accepted a request to place an article in the town meeting warrant requesting $10,000, submitted by the Historical Society.

Selectmen will continue budget deliberations. All of their recommendations will go before the Budget Committee for review and recommendation for town meeting, set for April 1.

In other business, selectmen voted to pay Paul Warren $2,065 for parking lot plowing for the current season.
