UNITY – Lewiston native Mark Tardif, associate director of college communications, is among several Unity College professionals who have won the Colleagues on a Mission Award.
Presented each year to Unity College faculty and staff members who have gone “above and beyond” in service to and achievements that benefit the college, Tardif received the award on Jan. 16.
A graduate of Northeastern University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English, Tardif earned a Master of Arts in teaching, English education, from Boston University and a Master of Science in computer technology education from Thomas College.
He has held teaching, coaching and administrative positions at Southern Maine Community College, Central Maine Community College, Bates College, Harvard University and Thomas College.
In addition to founding a new college publication in 2004 titled “Unity, the Magazine of Unity College,” Tardif helped plan and implement a month of events in celebration of Unity College’s 40th anniversary in September 2005. The events concluded with a speech by environmental activist and best selling author Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Tardif was recognized along with the college advancement team that received the Colleagues on a Mission Award. In addition to Tardif, other team members who won the award are Cindy Schaub, campaign coordinator, of Belfast; Kate Grenier, alumni relations officer, of Albion; Reeta Oun, advancement coordinator, of Unity; and Martha Nordstrom, director of college advancement of Ellsworth.
Faculty members who received the award were associate professor John Zavodny of Unity and assistant professor Timothy Peabody, former colonel of the Maine Warden Service, of Northport.
The Information Technology Department staff who received the award are Bill Morgan, director of information technology, of South China; Charles Bocchino, systems administrator, of Vassalboro; and Robert Bane, PC technician, of Burnham.
Director of the Health and Wellness Center Anna McGalliard of Unity also received an award.
