SUMNER – The Congregational Church of East Sumner has announced that it has called the Rev. Michael Johnson as the transitional minister. Johnson has been serving the church periodically since October.

The church commissioned Henri Arsenault to create a stained glass window in memory of member Gordon Abbott.

The public is invited to the following events and Sunday worship from 9 to 10 a.m. Sunday school runs during the service. On Sunday, Jan. 29, there will be a mission offering for Good Shepherd Food-Bank.

February events will include the following: Sunday, Feb. 5, Communion, deacons’ offering; Monday, Feb. 6, choir rehearsal, 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Feb. 8, deacons and trustees meeting, 6:30 p.m.; council, 7:15 p.m.

Friday, Feb. 10, potluck supper and history fest, 6 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 12, Valentine Breakfast, 7:30 a.m.; choir sings, coffee hour; Sunday, Feb. 19, Sunday school sings, mission offering for emergency oil fund; Monday, Feb. 20, Priscilla Bennett’s sliding party, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
