WATERVILLE – Karen Sirois had 28 points and Kari Simpson had all 20 of her points in the second half to help the University of Maine at Farmington women’s basketball team to a 79-70 victory over Colby College Tuesday.
Melissa Sawyer had 14 points and nine rebounds for the Beavers (12-3) win.
Katie McCabe had 23 points and 10 rebounds for Colby (6-10). Kate Emery and Tracy Nale both had 14 points.
USM 95, Mass-Boston 53
BOSTON – Megan Myles led four players in double-figures with 19 points as Southern Maine crushed UMass-Boston 95-43.
Ashley Marble became the 17th player in school history to record 1,000 career points as she connected early in the first half on the first of two free throws 6:59 into the game. Katie Frost chipped in with 15 points and six assists, while Lindsey Welch and Angela Santa Fe scored 11 and 13 points respectively.
Alicia Querusio led UMass Boston with 13 points.
Men’s basketball
Bates 82, UMF 64
FARMINGTON – Rob Stockwell led four Bates players in double-digits with 31 points and 11 rebounds as the Bobcats defeated the UMaine-Farmington 82-64.
Pat Holloran contributed 17 points for Bates (15-2), while Zak Ray and Brian Wholey added 13 and 12. Ray also led all players with nine assists.
The Beavers (7-7) were paced by Travis Carrier with 17 points, while Sean Fry added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Mass-Boston 94, USM 87
BOSTON – Amigo Paniagua scored seven of his 20 points in overtime to lift Mass-Boston to a 94-87 win over Southern Maine.
The Huskies rallied in the second half behind Walter Phillips, who hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to overtime at 80-80.
