NORWAY – Marshall W. Dresser, 61, of Harrison, died Monday, Jan. 23, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Norway on Sept. 14, 1944, the son of Wyman M. and Ida Belle Severance Dresser. He lived at the family homestead all of his life. He attended Harrison schools and graduated from Norway High School.

He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a carpenter, employed by SAD 17 in the maintenance department for 17 years and also worked at the Harrison Transfer Station. He was a third-generation caretaker at Oakdale Cemetery.

He enjoyed local youth and adult baseball and softball as well as playing bocce ball. In 2005, his merchant’s team gave him an award for being its “Biggest Fan.” He liked tractors, cribbage and racing and was an animal lover.

He is survived by two brothers, Roy, of Harrison and Bruce, of Norway; a sister, Beverly Whitman, of Norway; nieces and nephews, Gerry Dresser and his fiance, Stacey Raymond, of Bolsters Mills, Charlotte Bolduc, of Arlington, Mass., Bonnie Pedersen and her husband, John, of Whitefield, Tony Whitman and his wife, Barbara, of New York and Sheila Ernst and her husband, Steve, of Maryland; and 11 grandnieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Donald and David.
